Religion in the USA

Believe it or not but this photo was taken during a service in one Protestant church in the USA - a perfect breakfast time, isn't it?

Everyone who I met in the USA believes in something. The majority is Christian (though not catholic) but I also know some Jews, Mormons and people who believe in various spirits. The Americans talk about their religion openly and quite often. The Christians, even teenagers, often say “I love Jesus” and they truly mean it. The religion is a part of their life style.

There are a lot of different Protestant churches because in the USA it is quite easy to establish your own slightly different church. I have visited 3 different morning services. 2 of them are quite similar to a catholic mass. They only sing more and the songs are modern. The 3rd service is very casual. It takes place in a room in the back part of a church. People sit on comfortable chairs by tables. They sing new songs every week. The lyrics are on a big screen in front of them. The best thing is that you eat donuts and drink tea or coffee during the service. The most curious thing for me is that you consume Christ’s body and blood in the form of bread and juice (not wine). The Americans must obey the laws all the time – most of the people come to the church by car so there is “no drink and drive” law and also young people under the age of 21 can’t drink any alcohol legally. Well, in spite of that, this is my favourite Protestant church.
